About the Role
Responsibilities
Develop and Design Power BI Reports and Dashboards:
• Create visually appealing and interactive reports and dashboards using Power BI.
• Design effective data visualizations to communicate complex information in a user-friendly manner.
Data Modeling and Transformation:
• Design and implement robust data models to support reporting requirements.
• Perform data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes as needed.
Collaborate with Stakeholders:
• Work closely with business analysts and stakeholders to gather and understand reporting requirements.
• Translate business needs into actionable Power BI solutions.
Optimize Performance:
• Identify and address performance issues in Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Optimize data models for efficient data retrieval and visualization.
Data Analysis:
• Analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights and trends.
• Provide recommendations based on data-driven analysis.
Documentation:
• Document data sources, data models, and report specifications.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation for Power BI solutions.
Quality Assurance:
• Conduct thorough testing to ensure the accuracy and reliability of Power BI solutions.
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to resolve any issues.
Training and Support:
• Provide training and support to end-users on using Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Address user inquiries and troubleshoot any reported issues.
Requirements
Education:
A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as computer science, information technology, business, or a related discipline is often preferred.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency in Power BI: Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Power BI, including creating reports, dashboards, and data visualizations.
Data Modeling: Understanding of data modeling concepts and the ability to design effective data models for Power BI.
SQL and Database Knowledge:
Proficiency in SQL (Structured Query Language) to extract and manipulate data from various data sources.
Familiarity with databases and data warehousing concepts.
ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) Processes:
Knowledge of ETL processes to transform raw data into a format suitable for analysis and reporting.
Data Analysis and Interpretation:
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data and provide valuable insights.
Programming Skills:
Depending on the job requirements, knowledge of programming languages such as DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) and M may be beneficial.
Business Acumen:
Understanding of business processes and the ability to translate business requirements into effective Power BI solutions.
Communication Skills:
Effective communication skills to interact with stakeholders, gather requirements, and present findings.
Collaboration and Teamwork:
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, especially with data analysts, business analysts, and other stakeholders.
Problem-Solving:
Strong problem-solving skills to address issues related to data quality, performance, and report accuracy.
Continuous Learning:
Willingness to stay updated on the latest Power BI features, updates, and best practices.
Certifications:
Relevant certifications, such as the Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Microsoft Certified: Power BI Developer Associate, can be valuable for showcasing expertise.
